Joanne has been an exercise therapist for the past 8 years. She works with a very diverse clientele including elite and recreational athletes, ICBC claimants, and most recently people living with cancer. Her educational background includes a degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia. Joanne is also a certified trainer with the American Council of Exercise and a certified cancer exercise specialist.
Joanne has become an expert in the field of cancer and exercise. Her passion is working with people living with or recovering from cancer. She is an exercise therapist with a degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia. In addition, Joanne is a certified cancer exercise specialist trained at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Institute in Colorado, and Portland, and as a Cancer Guide, from the Mind Body Medicine Institute in Washington DC. Her background is exercise rehabilitation, and has worked with the Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Center for over 14 years and is also currently contracted to facilitate the fitness program at the integrated cancer care facility, Inspire Health. Her expertise in this field has been instrumental in helping develop exercises and training programs that target the reconditioning and rehabilitation of people who have limitations from surgery, illness or related injuries.
Joanne’s Vancouver studio, Back on Track Fitness, runs exercise programs specializing in dealing with the physical effects of cancer, its surgeries and treatments. Her clients benefit from one on one training, or group classes specifically designed for physical support through cancer recovery.
Joanne’s compassionate approach and technical understanding to cancer recovery through fitness has supported survivors through post-cancer surgeries and treatment. She is excited to share it with you. Back on Track Fitness has developed from Joanne’s rigorous training, extensive experience and passion to help people move beyond cancer.
